Time Space Expansion at The Mill ✨
The last few weeks at the Mill have seen me in a hyper-fast/ time stands still/ relaxed and revved up time/ space 'melange'. Everyone who has visited The Mill observes how 'Time' is experienced differently here.
The days seem expansive, we get sooo much done in a day. Be it the writing of the words on the page, the creation of new art, emerging from the minds of the recent artists residents, in response to the fabric and spirit of The Mill. Or the potters making pots and sculptures to fire on the Raku Retreat, with the 'Wow, did we really make all that in just one week!' comments of disbelief.
The time appears to expand to allow all to create what wants to be created, explore what wants to be explored, sleep the sleep that's needed, and commune with others, with varying degrees of wine partaken and seldom a hangover experienced.
Here are some of the ways you can come and feel all the feels of time at The Mill this summer:
August 6th:
Music concert with local artists. Email me to reserve your place.
August 19th - 26th:
Self-directed writers retreat (7 or 10-day stay).
September 8th - 15th:
Self-directed writers retreat.
September 17th - 24th:
‘Writing as Ritual’ retreat, led by published author and poet Dr Juliette Morton.
We have one single occupancy room left, and an apartment for 2 to 3 friends to share is still available, and we are offering a last-minute discount of 15% on these remaining spaces. We’re VERY excited about this one!! I'll also be guiding you through a very alchemic Raku firing of your very own MINI Goddess sculpture for your sacred writing space as part of this retreat. Expect lots of marvellous magic! As well as guided writing workshops by the super talented Juliette!
October 1st - 31st:
Artists’ Residency for 2 or 4 weeks, which includes a share of studio and exhibition space.
This will be offered to a maximum of 4 solo artists and a couple/ partnership (in the apartment).
Our previous artist residency with collective ‘Oveckas’
As huge fans of the We Are Makers beautifully printed publications and their already vast podcast series spotlighting a variety of global makers, including one of my personal pottery heroes, Florian Gadsby, we are super excited to announce an upcoming collaboration with Jack & Kate for 2024! We will let you know more later in the year.
If you love all things made, bespoke and handcrafted, these publications are for you! Everything about them is divine, including the paper quality. A great addition to your coffee table or bookshelf. Edition 7 has just been released today - can't wait to get my copy!! This isn’t a paid partnership, we just have the utmost respect for what these guys are doing - and appreciation of a great publication!
Things I’ve loved this week:
Tahney (a former writer’s retreat guest) interviews Tess Maunder.
I also recently re-watched this beautiful short film, The Art of Life. A real tonic of goodness.
Looking forward to seeing more of you wonderful folks here during the next few months, and as ever, please do forward to your friends and family to keep spreading The Mill Love!!
Off for a swim!
Much love,
Nathalie x
