Welcome to The Mill France!
In November 2018, owner Nathalie Edwards took the plunge and swapped her suburban London terraced home for a new life in the French countryside.
Looking for more space to expand her creative practice, Nathalie fell in love with The Mill which dates back to pre 1735 and sits on the banks of the River Cernon in the Tarn Gorges - a UNESCO area of outstanding natural beauty in the region of Aveyron.
Sitting on the edge of the village of Saint-Georges-de-Luzençon, The Mill is close to the market town of Millau and 2km from the Norman Foster designed beauty that is the Millau Viaduct.
Since taking ownership in 2018, Nathalie has renovated the mill alongside a host of incredible Workawayers (see volunteers section) and help from friends, family, and the local community. (It is a true labour of love and people feel that love when they visit!)
A working flour mill until as recently as 2000, Nathalie has been determined to retain as many of the original features and building’s history as possible.
Four years on, The Mill now welcomes guests and creatives from all over the world to enjoy its ambience and abundance of nature and is well on its way to it’s full transformation!
We’d love to welcome you here!
One of our lovely reviews:
Who knew a few clicks could bring me such a valuable experience. I was looking for a very specific kind of experience for a writing retreat: I wanted something cozy, familiar, and picturesque. I also wanted independence and focus to write, but I didn't want to feel alone. The Mill gave me all of this and more. Nathalie's hosting skills are out of this world, and supplemented my focus and ability to write for hours each day. In addition, there were so many opportunities to fill the creative well: a long hike ending in wild swimming (so cold, but so worth it), a cozy film night in the salon, an afternoon spent in Millau. The Mill is absolute magic. I sat by the river and meditated, fell asleep every night listening to it running outside my window. I felt so relaxed I could actually feel my creative flow returning to me. I loved gathering for each meal, catching up with the other guests. Connection, Creativity, Community - The Mill fulfills its promise, and what you put into your experience you will receive back tenfold. I'm just waiting for the next time I get to return :)
