The Goddess Series
Series 1 – Spirit
111 Goddess Sculptures - Goddesses from this collection have been released for individual sale. All are born from 1100 grams of warm white stoneware clay. Each one hand built, transparent glazed, initialled and numbered.
As Goddesses are hand built they are all varied, some are made from smooth clay, some are more textured.
Goddesses will be dispatched in number order, a photo of your allocated Goddess will be sent to you for approval, prior to dispatch, so you will have an opportunity to choose another if you prefer.
This is the first body (excuse the pun) of works produced at the new ceramics studio at The Mill. And it’s pretty damn exciting.

How they came to be
The Covid-19 situation, challenging in so many ways, has rather unexpectedly turned out to be creatively, very liberating .
Here at The Mill, inspired by a beautiful female torso sculpture that my daughter Poppy made some years previously, I started making small female forms myself. But they were changing, they were becoming more abstract, and soon, I realised I was making Goddesses, not female forms.
Empowered, strong, powerful, embodiment’s of the Divine Feminine Energy. Yes they are definitely Goddesses, and they feel so much part of my journey back to me.
In the turmoil of the first lock-down 2020, anxious about my new venture and all the implications of travel restrictions and quarantines I was waking in the night. I realised I was waking at exactly the same time ever night 1:11am. I then started seeing 11’s and 1’s and 111 everywhere, bit weird, or not who knows. It seemed significant/synchronistic to me and with a bit of research I found out that like everything else, numbers have an energetic value. The significance of the number 111, was positive and reassuring. It helped me to feel that no matter what, I was still on the right path and it was all going to be alright, ‘A sign’ to hold strong, trust, and it will all work out. That may sound a bit woo-woo, but if it helps, it helps!
So that’s why there are a 111 Goddess sculptures in each series. Harnessing the number energy to share with you! ‘Spreading the Love’ as my former boss would say!
This first series represents ‘Spirit’.
My Spirit, from which they have evolved, the spirit of Goddesses past, the spirit of every woman - mother, partner, lover, sister, daughter.
The Spirit of the earth, the clay.
The spirit of all people forging their own way through these strange times.
The Goddess Series celebrates feminine beauty in all her forms.

The next of The Goddess Series 111 will be exhibited as a complete collection.
My vision is to make another 444 in total. Each series will represent one of the Four Elements: Fire. Water. Earth. Air. It’s a big commitment as each series will take about 3 months to complete.
I take this opportunity to thank my gorgeous OAP’s (Oscar, Archie & Poppy) for all their love, trust and support in helping me get my brave on and taking the plunge to live my best life, as an artist, as a collaborator, as a forger of connection and community, in a new land. Their strength has helped me through this time of separation.
